These are turbulent times for macroeconomic policymaking: Following the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russian war of aggression<\/a> against Ukraine, the past months have been marked by high inflation<\/a> and fears of financial instability in Europe and beyond. Policymakers across the EU \u2013 particularly at the ECB \u2013 have been fighting hard to deliver on the goals of stable prices and financial stability. At the same time, the EU is engaged in a profound and ambitious transition to achieve climate neutrality and sustainability in the next decades.<\/p>\n

There is now a thriving debate on the priorities, instruments, and responsibilities that are necessary at the EU level to better reconcile European macroeconomic goals and climate protection.<\/p>\n

Is the ECB already \u201cfit for net-zero,\u201d or do we need to rethink monetary policy? What about the policy mix of monetary and member states\u2019 fiscal policy in the race towards a stable and green economy<\/a> in the EU?<\/p>\n
