On Wednesday 7<sup>th<\/sup>, the final contenders out of an <a href=\"https:\/\/bst-europe.eu\/trade-and-investment\/the-time-is-right-for-a-leader-at-the-wto-who-will-it-be\/\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"\u00d6ffnet in einem neuen Tab\" >initial group of eight<\/a> were announced: Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala (Nigeria) and Yoo Myung-hee (South Korea). What do these candidates stand for and what agenda lies ahead for the new WTO Director General and global economic governance? Anabel Gonzalez previously served as a Senior Director at the World Bank for Trade and Competitiveness and as Costa Rica\u2019s Trade Minister. Tatiana Prazeres was Senior Advisor to former Director General Azevedo and a former Foreign Trade Secretary of Brazil.<\/p>\n<p>The discussion will begin with an introduction on the state of play at the WTO by <strong>Emily Benson<\/strong> of the Bertelsmann Foundation of North America and <strong>Christian Bluth of the Bertelsmann Stiftung, Global Economics Project<\/strong> will moderate the discussion.<\/p>\n<p>Prior registration is required (link is right below).
